A day of pluses and minuses ...

Having spent my first full day in Perth after about six weeks in the US, today was a day of pluses and minuses.

[+] Being able to wake up in my own bed.

[+] Being able to drink Milo. [This does not exist in the US.]

[+] Having breakfast with family.

[+] Driving on the left side of the road again. [In the US, they drive on the right side, took some time to get used to it.]

[-] Car's battery is dead.

[+] Attending church and listening to a great message by brother Sudha Niles.

[+] Catching up with my dear friends [Major plus, received a key ring too. Thanks!]

[-] Leaving my dark blue hooded jacket in church. [Major bummer, quite annoyed with myself. Hopefully one of our excellent ushers picked it up.]

[+] Lunch at Spencer Village. [Was craving for good chinese food. Chinese food was pretty bad in Louisiana.]

[-] Finding out there is a gas fault at home and we'll need to call the plumber. This also means that we can't cook, the gas heater doesn't work and worse of all, no hot water. Will cost a bomb to fix of course. Found out that a plumber costs $104 for a call out fee which includes the first 15 minutes. Then $25 for every 15 minutes after that! Man! Forget being a doctor! I should have been a plumber![Aiii yaaaiiii yaaaiiii ... why does this have to happen in the middle of winter!]

[+] Went out for dinner with family. Unofficially this was my Birthday dinner which I didn't have because I was in the US. [Having a Birthday by yourself is no fun I tell you. Was planning on going to a steak house and just do a mini celebration by myself but I ended up not going because the thought of eating alone in a restaurant didn't appeal very much. Friends and family SMSed which was very nice.]

[-] Ironing my work clothes for tomorrow. [I soooo need a few days off to just get my bearings back together.]

~Sigh~ ... after a day of ups and downs like today, I'm just glad that there are a few more pluses than minuses. Thanks to the big guy up in the sky. Now off to bed ... my own bed ...

Thanks '-- i shall remain anonymous --', but stove runs on gas. Sooo ... we've resorted to using the electric kettle for our precious hot water. Found an old M'sia style kettle which was much bigger so I plugged it in and the house lost power. Darn. So reverted to using our smaller kettle instead. Even bathed using the old bucket and scoop. Brings back memories of childhood ... ooopppps!!! ....

Thanks Marianne. Looks like you've been busy re-decorating. The 10th anniversary videos sound interesting too. Definitely looking forward to seeing that!
