Milk lasts a very long time in the US ...

I currently live in an apartment in the US, complete with kitchen facilities. I prefer this rather than a hotel because I can cook and save myself some money (not to mention reduce my weight if I eat healthily enough).

Standard breakfast fare is cereal with milk. Quick and easy, just pour the cereal into a bowl followed by the milk. Cooking time = 0, perfect for dazed people who haven't yet recovered from their 8 hours of slumber.

So I bought some milk last week and today I checked the expiry date: 06 / 08 / 2007. So I thought "Wow ... milk in the US lasts up to 2 months, amazing!"

Wait a minute ... I then remembered that their date format is slightly different. While we go by [ day / month / year ], they go by [ month / day / year ]. So the milk will in fact expire in a few days time. Hahahaha ... have to keep in mind the different time formats. Luckily I didn't mix up the date for something more important eg date of a airplane flight.
