I know ... I know, I'm a little late with this one.

Happy Chinese New Year everyone!!!

It occurred to me that we chinese are a superstitious bunch. We have, lucky numbers, lucky years, lucky days, lucky bamboo, lucky traditions, lucky money, lucky underwear [ok, I just threw that in ...]

One of the weird traditions that mum finds hard to let go off is the habit of cleaning the house before Chinese New Year. So off she went on a cleaning rampage, the poor vacuum cleaner was still sucking up dirt at 9pm in the evening. If she had the will power she could have gone on till midnight. Then there is the other tradition where you're not supposed to clean on New Year's day since you may inadvertently 'sweep away your luck'.

So imagine this, my brother wakes up on New Year's morning & heads down stairs ... then you hear "beep ... beep beep ... beep ... whiiirrrrr ... whiiiirrrr ... slosh ... slosh ... slosh". My mum yells "Son!!! You're not supposed to be washing your clothes today!!!". My brother just turned on the washing machine.

I just had to laugh ...
