Happy Australia Day

I'm blessed to live in a house that is perched up on higher ground, high enough to see the city from my balcony. This is where I watched the fireworks tonight. The fireworks wasn't the only thing lighting up the sky, there were lightning strikes & I was lucky enough to catch one of them.

Was tempted to join a few friends to trek down to the foreshore, however the heat was just too stifling. Today was one of the hottest Australia Days that I can remember, 41 degrees. Even at around 8:30pm, the mercury was hovering around 35+ degrees. No relief tomorrow & Sunday I'm afraid, 41 & 38 degrees respectively.

Keep cool everybody!!!

Oh, so it was lightning after all! I thought it might have been my imagination, or that it was camera flashes from across the river!

Hey Marianne, welcome back. Read about your problems getting back to Perth. Yes, the lightning strikes kinda made me glad that I didn't actually go down to the foreshore. The pessimist in me always assumes that I out of the few thousand people down there will be burnt to a crisp. Let's hope for better weather next year eh?
