Search For A Star

Well, it is all over. The event that everyone worked so hard for ended with a bang.

Got there at about 7pm, had to admit that the place wasn't well lit from the road and a big thank you for the traffic people for the directions. Got there at about 7pm and the place was already buzzing with people. Greeted by the ushers [impeccably dressed as always]. The hall was large and wide which was a good thing since people could still see if they were sitting on the back row. Wonderfully decorated by the "Ambience" team, must of taken lots of time to hang all those stars on the curtains.

Let's get to the heart of the show ... the performances ... in a word, very very good [ok, that was three words].The majority of performances were songs, I'd say half of them in chinese and the other half in english. One highlight being the chinese song by Rebecca. Zion Fusion also took to the stage with their energetic dance routines, the choir did an enjoyable medley and the young adults got brought a bit of soul with their rendition of the "Fighting Temptations". Hats off to "Z Boys", non-chinese speaking guys trying to sing a song in chinese. In between there were dramatic performances by Zion Kids [very touching] and also by the Fools 4 Christ drama team [very good ... left me wanting more .... Roy played a gay feminine brother ... very enjoyable indeed. Later spoke to Roy and he mentioned that the character wasn't meant to be gay at all]

I applaud everyone for plucking up the courage to get in front of approximately 1400 people to show their talent. A great big thank you for those behind the scenes (back stage, traffic, ushers, helpers etc). It wasn't about getting everything right, we had slight sound problems, but I think that just adds character to the show. We're just normal people, doing extraordinary things for Christ.

By the way, the MCs for the night were fantastic, with various costume changes ranging from Darth Vader, to Shrek and probably my personal favourite the sumo wrestler. The prizes were good too ... from Hello Kitty nick nacks, to a bicycle and a Nokia mobile phone!!
