Scars

Have any scars ?? What do you think of them?
I know I've got some that I'd like to get rid off ... pimple scars, cuts etc ...

There is one in particular that is on my leg on the side of my knee which was particularly memorable. I fell off my bicycle while racing / playing with my brother while he was on his bicycle. This was many many years ago. I remember the blood and when I looked at my wound, I saw white flesh ... at least I think it was flesh.

Major scars tend to remind us of the past. However what about Jesus? When he re-appeared to His disciples, He showed them His scars. This raised a few questions in my psyche:

"Don't we get a new body in Heaven? Why didn't Jesus?"

He left it for us ....

If we had the opportunity, we'd get rid of our scars at the drop a hat, without hesitation or a second thought. Scars aren't exactly attractive. [Although some of us macho men may use them for bragging rights].

Jesus certainly didn't need a reminder of what He had done one Friday some 2000 years ago, in fact He planned it all didn't He? The scars are to remind us of what He had done for us ...

We tend to forget things ... His forgiveness ... His grace ... His scars remind me of the victory won ...
