Current status of the world ... bleak ...
I took some time to read the local paper today & what I read was ... in a word ... bleak ...
Hurricane Katrina was and is devastating, with another hurricane a possibility. Then a hurricane has hit China. Also in China, there is a report where people are getting sterilised by force. Earth quakes are being reported more often and who could forget the tsunami last year?
I used to have this "bright idea" about solving world hunger. Why don't the people of developed nations each donate $1 and channel it to a certain country, say Africa? This would certainly fix the problem I thought ...
Unfortunately my "bright idea" was naive at best what I didn't take into account was basic human greed. I have heard of instances where food has arrived in Africa but are left rotting in the ports because of corruption. It boggles the mind to think that a human being [can we call them that?] could let someone else starve just for the sake of money. There are other obstacles too, the food could be confiscated to feed the military/militia etc.
Life just isn't that simple eh ??? Now you probably know why I'm "longingforsimplicity" ... *smile*
[On a brighter note, I have read articles on the web where the rape and killings in New Orleans after the hurricance may be untrue, I pray to God that they are indeed false reports.]
